How to maintain your mountain bike cassette

To ensure the longest possible life for your drivetrain, you need to clean your mountain bike cassette cassette on a regular basis.

  • Tools : Transmission degreaser | Narrow brush

Steps

  1. Spray the cassette with water.
  2. Apply degreaser, then brush the cassette, paying particular attention to the spaces between the sprockets.
  3. Rinse under running water.

Once dry, lubricate your mountain bike transmission. For cassettes with detachable sprockets (i.e. not monobloc cassettes), it's advisable to dismantle the cassette from time to time, especially if you ride regularly, for a thorough cleaning.
