A fairly straightforward operation, there are nonetheless two small subtleties to fitting your pedals correctly. Here is how to do it.
- Time: 15 min
- Level: Easy
- Tools: 15 mm open-end spanner or 8 mm Allen key | Grease
Steps
Regarding fitting, it is worth remembering that the thread is reversed on the left pedal. So take care when removing or fitting pedals. For the right pedal A, tightening is clockwise, whereas for the left pedal B it is reversed, i.e. anti-clockwise.

- Grease the pedal threads.
- Screw the pedals into the cranks. Depending on the model, you will tighten using a flat spanner on the pedal axle side, or with an Allen key on the inside of the crank.
Probikeshop tip: pay attention to the fitting direction. The left pedal is identified with an "L" (for left), while the right pedal is identified with an "R" (for right).
- Tighten the pedals to the torque specified by the manufacturer.
Probikeshop tip: generally you should not exceed 35 Nm, otherwise it will be difficult to remove them in the future.
Your pedals are now fitted. After the first ride, it is advisable to check the tightening.
