California — the birthplace of mountain biking —, an accident, a recovery period, and there was John Parker welding his first bike frames: it was the beginning of 1985!
The small bicycle company YETI CYCLES, which he founded with his wife, was just getting started. The first bikes performed very well and recognition came as early as 1988: the FRO (For Racing Only) was tested and approved by Mountain Bike Action magazine! It already featured the turquoise colour that has since become an iconic shade for the brand. The following years saw talented riders represent YETI, such as Juli Furtado, World Cross Country Champion in 1990!

In 1995, John Parker sold the company to Scott Sports Group, which integrated it into its Schwinn brand. This coincided with the creation of the Lawwill model, featuring a rear shock absorber.
The late 1990s were difficult for the brand, which was sold off by its owners. However, the 2000s saw the brand relaunch with successful bikes that sold very well and performed strongly in world competitions. The ARC (Absolute Racing Components), launched for the general public in 2002, are the best example of this. In 2004, the Yeti 575 appeared and became one of the brand's best-sellers. It is still in the catalogue in an improved version!
