Shimano – Drivetrain Specialist

Shimano was founded in 1921 in Japan (Osaka) when its founder Shozaburo Shimano began manufacturing a freewheel sprocket. Thirty years later, the Japanese brand developed the first Shimano derailleur as well as a 3-speed hub and eventually, in 1973, developed its first complete road groupset: the iconic Dura-Ace, which it brought to prominence by entering the professional peloton. From the 1980s onwards, Shimano tackled the MTB market with its Deore XT range.

Shimano – The Reference for Spare Parts

Shimano is present at the high end with groupsets such as Dura-Ace and Ultegra for road cycling or XTR and Deore for MTB, but also develops groupsets suited to all disciplines and all budgets. The brand indeed offers all its groupsets as spare parts on Probikeshop.fr (MTB cassettes MTB chains, brakes, MTB pedals, bottom brackets, hubs, cables & housing…) but has also diversified by developing a full range of wheels and equipment (clothing, glasses, shoes…) suited to every rider.

Shimano – At the Cutting Edge of Innovation

Practical, fast, smooth, light, reliable — these are the qualities of a Shimano drivetrain that you can find on Probikeshop.fr today. To deliver this level of performance, the brand developed a series of innovations by launching indexed gear shifting (SIS) as early as 1984, then developing brake-integrated gear shifting (STI) from 1990. The brand once again revolutionised the market in 2008 by launching the Dura-Ace Di2 electronic groupset! Building on this success, Shimano added a new electronic groupset to its catalogue, the Ultegra Di2!
